ranked [A] filter 8.5/15 spread ±2.0 signals: 3 independent
What is this?
A pre-send integrity gate for independent fractional CFOs before they send forecast updates, board packs, cash runway views, hiring affordability analyses, or cost-cutting recommendations to SME clients. Instead of relying on long-horizon business outcomes, the product ingests the spreadsheet/model, supporting exports, and draft narrative, then extracts concrete claims that can be checked quickly: runway math, burn assumptions, covenant headroom, timing dependencies, hiring affordability, margin bridge logic, and whether the recommendation actually follows from the numbers. AE runs adversarial challenge against those claims using its six-pattern taxonomy, especially premise-conclusion severing, cosmetic confidence, and temporal/transmission blindness. The client-facing output is not 'sound less confident'; it is a cleaner, more defensible pack with unsupported claims removed, assumptions made explicit where material, and an internal audit trail of challenged assertions. Grading happens from versioned forecast files and next actuals snapshots, allowing fast objective checks on forecast drift, broken assumptions, and repeated failure patterns without manual memo-by-memo self-reporting.
Why did we consider it?
A pre-send forecast integrity gate is a strong wedge because fractional CFOs already pay for planning/reporting tools, but still lack a product that protects the credibility of the specific financial claims and recommendations they send to clients.
What breaks?
- Breaks the <24h feedback loop constraint: financial actuals take 30+ days to materialize, making fast AE grading impossible.
- Technical unviability: parsing bespoke, unstructured SME Excel models to extract mathematical logic is too complex for a solo weekend developer.
- Severe data privacy liability: CFOs will not upload highly sensitive pre-board financials to an unvetted third-party tool.
Fatal objection: The market wedge is too narrow and low-frequency: there is no evidence fractional CFOs will buy and repeatedly use a separate integrity gate at the volume needed to reach the target ARR.
What did we learn?
Still in evaluation (phase: ranked). No verdict yet.
Filter scores
Five axes, each scored 0-3. Three independent runs by different model perspectives. Median shown.
| Axis | What it measures |
|---|
| data moat | Does this product accumulate proprietary data that compounds? |
| 10x model test | Does a better model make this more valuable, or redundant? |
| fast feedback loops | Can outputs be graded against reality in <30 days? |
| solo founder feasible | Can a solo operator build and run this without a team? |
| AI providers cant eat it | Do hyperscalers have structural reasons NOT to build this? |
Composite median: 8.5 / 15. Graduation threshold: 9.0. IQR across runs: 2.0.
Evidence
Signal A — Primary source
Spreadsheet audit and review procedures are an essential part of almost all City of London financial transactions. Structured processes are used to discover errors in large financial spreadsheets underpinning major transactions of all types. Serious errors are routinely found...
Signal B — Competitor with documented gap
Jirav provides forecasting and planning tools but lacks automated adversarial claim checking, error detection in spreadsheets, or integrity gates for removing unsupported claims; reviews note steep learning curve, limited flexibility for custom logic, no deep model validation for premise-conclusion errors or cosmetic confidence issues.
